Moventis attends Global Mobility Call in Madrid for the first time, highlighting its leadership in multimodality and international expansion
26 November 2024
Moventis has débuted at the Global Mobility Call congress in Madrid. Organised by IFEMA Madrid and Smobhub, the event is a key meeting point for operators, institutions and other major players in the mobility sector worldwide.

During the course of the event, the Mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, visited the Moventis stand alongside Josep Maria Martí, CEO of the company; Juan Giménez, Managing Director of Moventis Regular; Ramon Palau, Manager of Moventis TCC Pamplona; Júlia Farré, Head of Business Development at Moventis; Elena Aguarta, Head of Innovation Services for Mobility; and Sandra Llunell, Head of Marketing at Moventia and Customer Experience at Moventis, among others.

As part of the talk entitled “Multimodality as a driver for the transformation of territories”, Moventis shared its experience and vision in term of multimodal integration and also highlighted the project being led by the company in Saudi Arabia.

The Head of Business Development at Moventis, Júlia Farré, explained how multimodality not only improves the user experience by connecting different forms of transport but also leads to significant operational synergies and represents a major saving for public authorities. According to Júlia Farré, this model is also an incentive for those citizens who are committed to public transport.

“We have a unique vision of the territory thanks to our 100 years of experience as the backbone of connections based on buses, trams, bicycles and shared cars”, she said, adding that the company seeks to consolidate its growth in Spain in such regions as Madrid and the Balearic Islands, among others. To support that development, Moventis has invested over one million euros on new installations in Madrid.

On the international stage, the spotlight was placed on the project undertaken by Moventis in Saudi Arabia. Mohammed Balsad, Middle East Stakeholder Manager at Moventis, shared the company’s experience in managing urban transport in Mecca, which it began in 2022. “Launching this project was no easy task due to the language differences, cultural differences, etc.”, but added that the confidence expressed by the Saudi authorities was key to a successful operation.

At the same time, in 2024, Moventis opened the central headquarters of ‘North West Bus’, a consortium set up alongside the local partner, Al Qaid, from where intercity services in over 60 cities are managed, including Jeddah, Mecca, Medina and Riyadh. Operations include the management of bus fleets, route planning, advanced fare and ticketing systems, and the integration of innovative technologies.

Not only Moventis and Moventia attended the fair but so did the automotive division of the group. Elisa Gil, head of the Movento group in Madrid, represented this business area in a talk entitled “Retail Automotion: Towards a New Concentration and Innovation Model” organised by FACONAUTO. She explored such key issues as consolidation within the dealership sector, which is defining the market by enabling economies of scale and an improved portfolio of services. She also stressed how innovation is driving change, bringing in new digital tools, e-commerce platforms and new customer-focused business models. A particular emphasis was placed on strategies adopted to meet the rise of electric and self-driving vehicles, maintaining the focus on offering a solid customer experience in a competitive and fast-evolving environment.

Various members of the Moventis, Moventia and Movento teams were present at the stand during the congress, responding to all attendees interested in knowing more about the company and its projects. This direct contact allowed the group’s vision as a benchmark in sustainable and multimodal mobility to be shared, reaffirming its leadership both in Spain and in strategic international markets.
