Carrilets Turístics
Carrilets Turístics operates tourist trains, known as carrilets, under administrative concessions for regular, fixed routes in various locations and for private hire at all kinds of public and private events.
These little trains are all about enjoying the ride. With their slow, scenic pace, they’re perfect for exploring beautiful landscapes or taking a fun and relaxed tour of local attractions.
You’ll find Carrilets Turístics trains at all kinds of events across the region – from weddings and festivals to corporate functions, village fairs and local celebrations.
Committed to sustainability
In 2024, the company took a major step forward by adding two fully electric, plug-in trains to its fleet. These vehicles, powered by an 81 kW/h motor, provide greater capacity than previous models. Each can carry up to 70 passengers or, in an adapted version, 64 passengers and two wheelchair spaces, or 67 passengers and one wheelchair space. With a range of up to 186 kilometres, the electric trains can operate all day without needing to be recharged.
These trains were exclusively designed for Moventis Carrilets Turístics, combining premium quality, enhanced safety and the classic look of a tourist train. They are equipped with passenger monitoring cameras and wide, retractable steps for easier boarding and alighting. These two electric models join a fleet of 13 hybrid vehicles, further advancing the company’s sustainability efforts.
In 2025, three additional trains will be added to the fleet.
Digital solutions
Carrilets Turístics offers an online ticketing system, allowing passengers to purchase tickets for any of the trains in operation, including options for children, seniors and more. This reduces waiting times at stops, as staff only need to validate the tickets.
Passengers can also benefit from a geolocation tool that shows the train’s exact location in real-time. This feature improves the experience by letting users know how long they’ll need to wait at their stop.
Onboard audio guide
Carrilets Turístics has the expertise to offer onboard audio guides that highlight tourist attractions along the route.
This system was successfully implemented at Barcelona Zoo.
