DUBLIN, Ireland – Moventis TCC, the joint venture made up by Moventia and Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB), was accompanied last month by its partner, Indra, and the National Transport Authority (NTA) at the official opening ceremony for the new headquarters of the NGT Contactless project in Dublin. Presided over by the Irish Transport Minister, Eamon Ryan, the event represents a key milestone in the process to modernise public transport infrastructure in the country.
Although Moventis TCC has been working on the project for several months already, this official opening of the Dublin hub represents formal recognition of the international partnership that is taking steps to implement the Irish Next Generation Ticketing (NGT) programme. As a specialised subcontractor of Indra, Moventis TCC is responsible for the provision of training and operational support services.
Internationalisation of the “T-mobilitat” experience
Involvement by Moventis TCC on the Irish NGT project represents a huge step towards internationalising the experience gained through its work on implementing T-mobilitat in the Barcelona area, where the two organisations helped transition Catalonia over to a fully digital and multimodal ticketing system within a multi-stakeholder ecosystem. With that in mind, this joint venture can bring a unique operator-focused perspective, something that is crucial for large-scale technological transitions such as this.
For the course of the current project, Moventis TCC is focused on:
• Operational know-how: Implementation of best practice from the Barcelona model to ensure that the Irish system is easy to use.
• Specialised training: Preparation of local teams to manage the change over to contactless technology via comprehensive knowledge transfer.
• Operational support: Support to Indra for reducing the gap between advanced technological development and the day-to-day operational reality in transport.
