Joan Giménez, General Manager of Regular Services at Moventis, was invited by Promoción del Transporte Público (PTP) to present our bus service on the Can San Juan industrial estate at the ‘Public Transport School’ conference recently organised by PTP on the important role played by public transport by bus in public mobility as a benchmark example of such services.
Three routes with four vehicles, a common section with the service running every five minutes at rush hour and instructions for the driver to wait if the train is running late. These are just a few of the key characteristics that Joan Giménez shared during the round table discussion with other players in the sector. The event also included talks from: Montse Solano, a Planning Department Officer at Soler y Sauret; Gerard Pérez, Head of Operations at the Mollet depot for Sagalés; Roser Argilés, Head of Projects at Teisa; and Samuel de la Fuente, Mobility and Services Management Manager for ATM in Lleida.
Over the five years it has existed, the TCC Pamplona ‘Teaming’ has managed to reach a total of 22,500 euros in support of 15 social projects. This year, three organisations received a total of 4,500 euros. They were the Eunate Elkartea Association, the Médicos del Mundo Navarra Association and the Brazadas de Superación Foundation.
The money raised comes from micro-donations of one euro from the salaries of half of the company workforce, to which is added the contribution from TCC Pamplona itself, which donates one additional euro for every euro donated by the employees taking part in the initiative. These donations continued to arrive even during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The employees of TCC Pamplona are also responsible for choosing the social entities that receive their donation. In this regard, the drivers Daniel Rodríguez and Mave Navarro decided to give their donations to the Eunate Elkartea Association for its ‘Learning to Talk’ project. Since 1999, this association has been defending the rights of the hearing impaired by supporting and helping families to enhance their well-being and full integration into society. Boosting public mobility in Cerdanyola was highlighted as one of the main priorities by speakers invited to the Cerdanyola Empresarial Dialogues. Promoted by Cerdanyola Empresarial, the event this year focused on mobility in the area. Attending the event were Carlos Cordón, Mayor of Cerdanyola del Vallès; Pere Puig, Chairman of the Urban Planning, Infrastructures and Transport Committee of the Sabadell Chamber of Commerce; and Jordi Castells, Operations Director of Moventis and General Manager of Sarbus and Casas.
Everyone agreed on the need for a joint effort from all strategic stakeholders in the sector to improve mobility. In this regard, Jordi Castells underlined the goal to ensure harmony between new and more traditional forms of travel and, more specifically, to promote mobility in Cerdanyola through on-demand transportation. “A real solution that has shown it can triple demand when bearing in mind that only 13% of inter-municipal journeys are currently made on public transport”, said Jordi Castells.
Furthermore, the public transport infrastructures deficit in Cerdanyola is another issue to be resolved with a view to promoting better mobility. The three speakers in the debate called for construction of the Fourth Belt to reduce congestion on such roads as the B-30.

Moventis TCC Pamplona, a part of the Moventia group and a benchmark in sustainable mobility, has been recognised as ‘Company of the Year 2022’ by the specialist magazine Autobuses & Autocares, during its XXX ‘Companies of the Year Awards’.
More specifically, the company won this award in the ‘Urban Transport’ category in recognition of its service quality, the implementation of new technologies and its experience in public passenger transport in Pamplona and the surrounding region, where it has been operating since 2009.
Moventis TCC Pamplona has a fleet of 160 buses fitted with all the latest technology, which includes a powerful and updated location (OSS), ticketing, WI-FI and real-time information system based on web and mobile apps with occupancy level prediction.
Furthermore, the company was a European pioneer in the introduction of vehicles powered by alternative energy sources with a view to achieving neutral emissions in transport (the first pilot electric bus in Europe, the first 100% electric line in Spain, etc.).
This award recognises the effort by Moventis TCC Pamplona to achieve total integration with society in Pamplona and its region through commitments and agreements with various entities and social stakeholders over the last 12 years.
All these factors helped the panel choose the company as a winner this year. The panel also appreciated the efforts by Moventis TCC Pamplona to achieve maximum satisfaction for users of this public transport service.

Moventis Sarfa is celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2021, having become an important symbol of public transport throughout Catalonia and especially in Gerona. This milestone did not pass unnoticed by some of the major organisations and authorities in Gerona, such as the Palamós Chamber of Commerce and Begur Local Council.
At the 14th Begur Economic Affairs Debate, promoted by the two entities and recently held at the Aiguablava Parador Hotel, Miquel Martí, Chairman of Moventia, received an award from the President of the Palamós Chamber of Commerce, Pol Fages, and the Mayor of Begur, Maite Selva, in recognition of the century-long track record behind Moventis Sarfa.
The Chairman of Moventia, Miquel Martí, said “we are very happy to have a century-old company like Moventis Sarfa in our group, one with a successful history that inspires us all to keep working so hard to offer the very best public mobility experience”. He went on to add that “this award recognises all those people who have made it possible for Moventis Sarfa to become the great company it is today. Tomorrow.Mobility is a global event for promoting the future of mobility. As part of the Smart City Expo World Congress that began yesterday in Barcelona, this new event – jointly organised by Fira de Barcelona and EIT Urban Mobility, an initiative of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology, a body of the European Union – was unveiled to society. The event is also supported by major institutions and companies in the mobility sector, including Moventia. Tomorrow.Mobility seeks to become a global benchmark in mobility and to grow beyond an isolated event as it will have an online knowledge platform that remains active throughout the year and an innovation hub for gathering the top players in the industry. Miquel Martí Escursell, Chairman of Moventia, has formed part of the Advisory Board that manages this debate and knowledge platform about the future of mobility since it was first set up and attended the event opening yesterday.
The Smart City Expo World Congress is a globally leading event on smart cities. Its partners include EIT Urban Mobility, the largest European initiative for transforming urban mobility created by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology. It is also receiving initial support from over 100 companies and entities, including the World Bank, the World Economic Forum, United Nations, Microsoft, Mastercard, ADP (Airports of Paris), the International Association of Ports, the Port of Barcelona, Moventia, RACC and Social Car.
Tomorrow.Mobility is an evolution of the Smart Mobility Congress, the event focused on smart intercity and urban mobility that has been taking place alongside the Smart City Expo World Congress since 2016. Tomorrow.Mobility will tackle such issues as micro mobility (electric scooters, bicycles), public transport, mobility service providers (car sharing, aero taxis), the automotive industry (electric, connected and autonomous cars), last-mile logistics (e-commerce deliveries, delivery drones), smart infrastructures (fleet management, geopositioning and payment systems), the energy transition and efficiency, and digitalisation. It exists in response to the questions surrounding what mobility should be like in cities of the future with smart and sustainable transport systems, and builds an innovation network for urban mobility at a global level capable of encouraging innovation and its transformation towards a more sustainable form of mobility.
